BOARD MEETING

The Pipestone Township Board met December 10, 2007at the Township Hall at 8:00pm. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance
|
CALL TO ORDER
|
|
Board members present were Hazen Harner, Alan Nimtz, Richard Skibbe, Robert Bishop and Doug Davis. Also nine guests were present.
|
MEMBERS PRESENT
|
|
A motion made by Bishop, supported by Skibbe to accept the minutes of the November 12, 2007 Board Meeting as received prior to the meeting. MOTION CARRIED.
|
MINUTES APPROVED
|
|
Skibbe, having deposits for the month of $4,977.43 filed treasurer’s report as read. Leaving a balance in the general fund of $65,574.51
|
TREASURER’S REPORT
|
|
Deputy Sherene from the Berrien County Sheriff Department presented a monthly Police Report for Pipestone Township. He discussed the report having forty-two written complaints, twenty-four tickets issued and twelve arrests in Pipestone Township
|
POLICE REPORTS
|
|
Mr. Tom Stiles from the Fire Department presented the incident summery report for the month of November. He stated there were nineteen calls, five in which were in Pipestone Twp.

FIRE REPORT
|
|
Roger Zielke , the Berrien County Drain Commissioner explained the process when a petition is submitted to the drain office, then what was allowed under the drain code to be charged. He explained than what was spent on the Franz / Versaw drain. Due to the amount going over the $2,500.00 per mile per year the Drain Commissioner needs a Resolution approved by the Board authorizing him to expend the money for that Drain. Motion made by Nimtz, supported by Bishop to approve Resolution #2007-7 (Resolution for Franz/ Versaw Drain) upon roll call vote Ayes (Harner, Nimtz, Skibbe, Bishop, Davis), Nays (none) MOTION CARRIED

BC DRAIN COMMISSIONER & RESOLUTION #2007-7(FRANZ /VERSAW DRAIN)
|
|
Reviewed PA 116 application and response from Berrien County Planning Commission for Thomas Mitchell. On October 8th, 2007 the Township Board initially approved the application determining the parcel was in AG district and presently being farmed. The BC Planning recommended approval. Motion made by Nimtz, supported by Bishop for final Township approval and have the application sent to the State Department for final determination. MOTION CARRIED

PA116 AGREEMENT FOR THOMAS MITCHELL
|
|
A motion made by Nimtz, supported by Bishop to have Sanders Excavating to plow the snow in the cemeteries as needed for the year of 2008. MOTION CARRIED Having Davis voting nay.
|
SNOW REMOVAL
|
|
A motion made by Skibbe, supported by Nimtz to have moneys collected from dog license fees to revert back to the Treasurer Richard Skibbe. MOTION CARRIED
|
DOG COMM MONIES
|
|
Reviewed the Election Commission appointments for the January 15th 2008 Presidential Primary Having election workers as follows ( Pam Anstiss, Patsy Kremers, Lois Akright, Patricia Breyen, Deborah Piedt and Kathy Bishop and Rosie Nimtz as alternates.)

A motion made by Nimtz, supported by Skibbe for the following appointments for the year of 2008: Planning Commission (3-yr term) David Dustin. Board of Review (1-yr term) David Dustin, Fred Schilling, Vern Holle and Frank Gaul (Alternate). Fire Board (2-yr Term) Steve Schilling. Zoning Board of Appeals (2-yr-term) Henry Breyen (Plann Rep), (1-yr term) Robert Bishop (Twp Brd Rep) Construction Board of Appeals (2-yr term) Piet Keegstra (Building), Robert Bishop (Mechanical), Tom Sapp(Plumbing) Property Maintenance Board of Appeals(2-yr term) David Dustin MOTION CARRIED
