PIPESTONE TOWNSHIP
BOARD MEETING
JULY 9, 2007
The Pipestone Township Board met July 9, 2007 at the Township Hall at 8:00pm. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance
 
CALL TO ORDER
Board members present were Hazen Harner, Alan Nimtz, Richard Skibbe, Robert Bishop and Doug Davis. Also having nine guests present.
 
MEMBERS PRESENT
 
A motion made by Bishop, supported by Skibbe to accept the minutes of the June 11, 2007 Board Meeting as received prior to the meeting. MOTION CARRIED.
 
MINUTES APPROVED
 
Skibbe, having deposits for the month of $27,118.18, filed treasurer’s report as read. Leaving a balance in the general fund of $65,594.56
 
TREASURER’S REPORT
 
Deputy Charles Sherene from the Berrien County Sheriff Department presented a monthly Police Report for Pipestone Township. He discussed the report having forty-six written complaints, thirty-seven tickets issued and five arrests in Pipestone Township
 
POLICE REPORTS
 
Tom Stiles from the fire Department stated they had a total of twenty-six calls for the month of June, eight in which were in Pipestone Township
 
FIRE REPORT
 
Motion made by Nimtz, supported by Bishop to approve the sale of the old Township Hall for the amount of $27,500 to Tim Ferry and to give Hazen Harner the authority to sign any documentation on behalf of the Township Board MOTION CARRIED
 
TWP HALL SALE APPROVAL
 
The Township Board had received noise complaints that Randy’s recycling has a new metal shredder and the time of running and noise level needs to be addressed. Randy talked with Robert Guse (neighbor) Stated he is installing rubber backing , one inch armored platting and is looking into better ways to improve the situation, they will run just during business hours and not on Saturdays
 
RANDY’S RECYCLING COMPLAINT
 
Smoke Alarms required in all dwellings and are available through the Fire Departmant
 
SMOKE ALARMS
 
Burning permits available Berrien Township Hall (269-461-6925)
 
BURN PRMITS
 
A motion made by Bishop, supported by Skibbe to approve monthly disbursements totaling $18,190.10. MOTION CARRIED.
