The Pipestone Township Board met March 26, 2007 at the Township Hall at 8:00pm. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance
|
CALL TO ORDER
|
|
Board members present were Hazen Harner, Alan Nimtz, Richard Skibbe, Robert Bishop and Doug Davis. Also having eight guests present.
|
MEMBERS PRESENT
|
|
A motion made by Bishop, supported by Skibbe to accept the minutes of the February 12, 2007 Board Meeting as received prior to the meeting. MOTION CARRIED.
|
MINUTES APPROVED
|
|
Skibbe, having deposits for the month of $75,522.31, plus interest from checking acct to be received at end of month, filed treasurer’s report as read. Leaving a balance in the general fund of $132,102.77minus checks from March leaving an ending balance of $85,202.92(plus ending interest)

TREASURER’S REPORT
|
|
Tom Stiles from the fire Department stated they had a total of twenty-nine calls for the month of February, ten in which were in Pipestone Township.
|
FIRE REPORTS
|
|
Harner reported there were two bids returned for the Hall roof and he had contacted some of the other individuals that requested the specs turn them in for next meeting.
|
HALL ROOF BIDS
|
|
A motion made by Nimtz, supported by Bishop to amend the 2006-2007 budget by subtracting the following amounts from the following accounts: Twp. Trustee-453.00, Twp Supervisor-51.24, Twp Assessor-258.19, Twp Clerk-546.31, Twp Treasurer-37.71, Fire Department-4,013.95, Plumb/Mech-1,053.40, Ordinance Officer-670.18,Planning Comm-480.00, Roads-1,827.71, Community Development-220.01, Library-60.00 and Misc-1,865.00. To add the following amounts to the following accounts:, Elections- 1,121.23, Financial & Office-271.03, Twp Hall and Grounds-14,616.47, Cemetery-170.50, Build/Elect-1,470.00, Drains-1,074.33, and Contingency Fund-33,094.03. Leaving an ending balance of 33,169.03 in the Contingency Fund also to add interest for month end. MOTION CARRIED

BUDGET AMENDMENT
|
|
Harner explained the culvert on Wolf Road has rusted and has had been patched several times, The Road Commission has a piece of culvert left over which be enough for that project, total cost of $17, 984.00 being the Township to pick up half the cost @$8,992.00. Motion made by Bishop supported by Skibbe to have the culvert replaced by the Road Commission. MOTION CARRIED

WOLF ROAD CULVERT

|
Nimtz reported Brown’s would mow the cemeteries at the same rate per mowing as last year and the new Twp Hall at $35.00/mow. Motion made by Nimtz, supported by Bishop to have Brown’s mow Township properties for 2007. MOTION CARRIED

TWP MOWING
|
|
Discussed getting limestone for cemetery driveways, Nimtz to receive more bids for next meeting.

CEM DRIVEWAYS
|
|
Reviewed Resolution #2007-3 (Resolution supporting Berrien County Road Commission application for State and Federal Critical Bridge Funds) applying for fund for bridge on Bailey Road over Pipestone Creek. Motion made by Nimtz, supported by Skibbe to approve Resolution #2007-3, upon roll call vote Ayes ”Harner, Nimtz, Skibbe, Bishop, Davis” Nays “none” MOTION CARRIED

Budget Hearing was held, discussing budgeting amounts for each account. Motion made by Nimtz supported by Bishop to approve budget as presented. MOTION CARRIED having Davis voting Nay
|
BUDGET HEARING
|
|
A motion made by Nimtz, supported by Bishop to adopt Resolution #2006-4 (Budget Resolution) The proposed revenue and expenditures are $300,000.00 for the year of 2007-2008, upon role call vote, "ayes" (Harner, Nimtz, Skibbe, Bishop and Davis), "nays" (none) MOTION CARRIED

RESOLUTION #2007-4(BUDGET)

|
Supervisor Harner reported the meetings for the next year will be on the 2nd Monday of each month at 8:00pm with the March meeting to be on the last Monday, at the Pipestone Township Hall . The Budget Hearing will be announced at a later date.

Motion made by Nimtz, supported by Bishop to approve the Community Development Monies paid upon request as amounts printed in proposed Budget for 2007-2008 MOTION CARRIED having Davis voting nay

Cemetery Flowers are to be removed by April 1, 2006 or the Cemetery Sexton will remove them.

A motion made by Bishop, supported by Skibbe to approve monthly disbursements totaling $46,899.85. MOTION CARRIED.
