BOARD MEETING
SEPTEMBER 10, 2007
The Pipestone Township Board met August 13, 2007 at the Township Hall at 8:00pm. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance
 
CALL TO ORDER
Board members present were Hazen Harner, Alan Nimtz, Richard Skibbe, Robert Bishop and Doug Davis. Also having twelve guests present.
 
MEMBERS PRESENT
 
A motion made by Bishop, supported by Skibbe to accept the minutes of the August 13, 2007 Board Meeting as received prior to the meeting. MOTION CARRIED.
 
MINUTES APPROVED
 
Skibbe, having deposits for the month of $30,336.66 filed treasurer’s report as read. Leaving a balance in the general fund of $69,724.94
 
TREASURER’S REPORT
 
Deputy Greg Morrow from the Berrien County Sheriff Department presented a monthly Police Report for Pipestone Township. He discussed the report having forty-one written complaints, forty-eight tickets issued and twenty-six arrests in Pipestone Township.
 
POLICE REPORTS
 
Tom Stiles from the fire Department stated they had a total of twenty-three calls for the month of August, eight in which were in Pipestone Township
 
FIRE REPORT
 
Harner stated the Berrien County Drain Commission went over Budget on a designated drain and needed a Resolution from the Township approving them to go over budget, after discussion Resolution was tabled until next meeting to gather all particulars.
 
BC DRAIN OVER BUDGET
 
Motion made by Bishop, supported by Davis to keep the Berrien County Road Commission Board at three members instead of increasing to five members. MOTION CARRIED
 
BC RD COMM BOARD
 
Randy Case has a noncompliance mobile home on his property which he is presently using as storage, uninhabitable dwelling. He agreed to sign an agreement with the Township to have the mobile home removed after the new building is finished, no longer than eighteen months. A motion made by Nimtz, supported by Bishop to have an agreement drawn up and signed allowing this mobile home as a storage unit (an uninhabitable dwelling) for a period up to eighteen months. MOTION CARRIED.
 
RANDY CASE MOBILE HOME AGREEMENT
 
Motion made by Nimtz, supported by Skibbe to approve the audit agreement with Campbell Kusterer and Co for a period of three years (2008, 2009, 2010) for a fee of $2,400.00. MOTION CARRIED
 
AUDIT AGREEMENT
 
Nimtz reported the Berrien County Clerks Association has a chance to purchase a backup tabulator, splitting it with the other Berrien County municipalities than to have it available in case of tabulator failure on election day, cost to be $110.00/ jurisdiction, motion made by Nimtz, supported by Bishop to have Pipestone Township to pay their share for the backup tabulator. MOTION CARRIED

VILLAGE ELECTION
 
Smoke alarms are required in all homes and are available through the Fire Department.

Burning Permits to be acquired through Berrien Township Hall (461- 6925)
 
BURNING PERMITS
 
A motion made by Skibbe, supported by Bishop to approve monthly disbursements totaling $57,826.01. MOTION CARRIED.
